With a background in German media theory and literary studies, I seek to better understand the matrix of labor, nature, and technology in a range of accounts of twentieth century cultural history, critical and media theory, and in literature and film. I also have a project developing that traces the antinomies of value (broadly understood) in the cultural histories of extraction in the 16th and 17th centuries—especially between German-speaking Central Europe and Spanish colonial mines.
