Lorenz Hegel
Before joining the German Department and Film and Media Studies Program in 2017, Lorenz studied philosophy and literature in Hildesheim, Paris, and Berlin. His main interests include post-Kantian philosophy and ‘anti-philosophy’ (Marx, Nietzsche, Freud), as well as their reverberation in French-German twentieth-century thought. Lorenz is currently working on the interrelation of images, bodies, and ideology within the framework of Western materialism and Marxism, with a specific focus on the aesthetics and politics of early film movements and their impact on global counter-cinema.
