Lidia Plaza

I work on the late eighteenth-century British Empire exploring issues of political economy, Industrialization, capitalism, party politics, and material culture. My dissertation examines the fall out of the American Revolution and the rise of Industrialization in British politics and policy and the how the empire developed in Australia, India, Ireland, and the greater Atlantic world. My project seeks to answer the question of why the British Empire expanded in the nineteenth century and came to dominate geopolitics for over a century.
