Joseph / Sang Wuk Lee studies the early Christian construction of social and cultural identities. His research involves delving into the dynamics of power in ancient Christian communities, and his approach is interdisciplinary, drawing from disability studies, (bio)archaeology of the Roman Empire, a well as critical race theory. Specifically, he investigates social and religious deviance by examining ancient physiognomy, moral failure, and ancient rhetoric.
