Amy Ming Wai Tai is a PhD candidate in Music Theory. She holds a BA in Music and English Studies at the University of Hong Kong with First Class Honors, and MA in Music Theory from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her dissertation studies the relationship between contemporary ballet in Europe and America and J. S. Bach’s music. Her other research interests include the phenomenology of dance and the philosophy of Henri Bergson as they apply to dance and music analysis. She is currently pursuing a certificate in Intermediate Labanotation, one of the most widely used dance notation systems nowadays.
