Alexandra M. Thomas is a Ph.D. student in History of Art and African-American Studies, with a certificate in Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. Her work explores transnational black feminism and queer of color critique in Germany and the rest of Europe through the art and culture of African-American travelers and Black Europeans. Alexandra’s current research looks at the visual and material culture of black lesbians in Germany and their relationship to global African aesthetics. For this project, she is consulting various archives, museums, and contemporary art biennales throughout Europe such as the Audre Lorde Archive in Berlin, Black Cultural Archives in London, and others.
