Presenting at ASEEES online conference

Wednesday, December 8, 2021

Valeriia Mutc is a PhD student in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures.

I participated in two panels at the Association of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) virtual conference in December 2021, thanks to the grant from the ESC at the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies. My first paper, titled “The Science of Theater: Psychology in the Drama of Anton Chekhov and Lev Tolstoy,” was part of a panel on cognitive approaches to Russian literature and examined how theater mediated scientific concepts for Russian prose at the turn of the twentieth century. My second presentation took place at the Medical Humanities roundtable, where I discussed teaching Medical Humanities during the Covid-19 pandemic and how Medical Humanities can contribute to decolonization efforts in the Slavic field’s curriculum.
