A recording from the Career Conversation Series talk on October 25, 2021, featuring Trisha Craig, Vice President (Engagement), Yale-NUS College. The European Studies Fellows’ Networks Career Conversations Series connect alumni and current Yale and Yale-NUS students to discuss career trajectories and are particularly useful for those pursuing or considering pursuing an area studies focus. These conversations are meant to be very informal – the speaker presents for the first 20 minutes (recorded) and then, the rest of the unrecorded session is open for Q&A and informal discussion with the speaker.

Trisha Craig is the Vice President (Engagement) at Yale-NUS College. Dr Craig is responsible for the College’s initiatives and activities in the areas of external engagement, alumni affairs and summer programming. As VP (Engagement), Dr Craig focuses on creating opportunities for purposeful engagement and building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and institutions within Singapore, the region and the world at large. Previously, she was Dean for International & Professional Experience at the College. Dr Craig’s professional and academic focus has been international. Before relocating to Singapore, she was Executive Director of Harvard’s Center for European Studies, a leading graduate and post-doctoral research centre for the study of Europe. Dr Craig’s experience in Asia began at the Harvard Institute for International Development where she worked in numerous countries doing research and policy advising. Invited by the Asian Development Bank to examine the quality of life in rural Asia, she carried out fieldwork in China, India and Thailand, eventually co-authoring a book on the topic. Subsequently, she developed a year-long project on infrastructure in China that was based in the Foreign Capital Management division of the Chinese Ministry of Finance.

A native of Philadelphia, Dr Craig is the product of a liberal arts education. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in Economics from Swarthmore College and a PhD from Yale in Sociology, where her focus was on political institution building and democratic transitions in Europe.
