Michael works on Renaissance humanists and the transfer of humanist ideas from Italy to Central Europe in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, examining how humanist ideas change when moving from European center to periphery. His research focuses on Humanist literary sodalities at courts and universities in Rome, Krakow, and Vienna.
