Marika is a master’s student at Yale Divinity School working at the junction of religion and the arts. She focuses on liturgical and political rituals, specifically those related to death and self-sacrifice, as they pertain to the performance of national identity along the divide between Eastern and Western Christian traditions in Central and Eastern Europe. She has reported as a journalist for Religion News Service, where she covered Eastern Christianity, including religious elements of the war in Ukraine.

Prior to her Master’s degree Marika earned an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Puget Sound after which she worked for five years in professional theater, including productions at the Guthrie Theater, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and many others. She is a member of the Actors Equity Association.
