Alana’s work examines the intersection of culture and religion (particularly Eastern Orthodoxy and Catholicism) and its effect on national identity formation in Russia and Poland and how those processes are discussed and depicted in literature, art, and film. After completing a Fulbright English Teaching Fellowship in Vitebsk, Belarus in 2018-19, she also became interested in Belarusian literature, history, and culture. Most of her work focuses on the 20th and 21st centuries.
