Anna Zayaruznaya talks about The Monstrous New Art: Divided Forms in the Late Medieval Motet

Anna Zayaruznaya is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at Yale University. Her research brings the history of musical forms and notation into dialogue with medieval literature, iconography, and the history of ideas. Her work has appeared in the leading journals of her field, including the Journal of the American Musicological Society and the Journal of Musicology. We talk with Professor Zayaruznaya about her book, The Monstrous New Art: Divided Forms in the Late Medieval Motet, for which she was awarded the MacMillan Center’s Gaddis Smith International Book Prize.
