On Tuesday, November 15, Ambassador Juan Carlos Mendoza-García, Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the United Nations (for the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States); Ambassador Téte António, Permanent Observer of the African Union to the United Nations; and Ambassador Joanne Adamson, Deputy Head of European Union Delegation to the United Nations, will discuss regional organizations in global governance. The event will be moderated by Ambassador Yuriy Sergeyev, former Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, and Senior Fellow in the Program in European Union Studies. It will take place at 4 p.m. in Henry R. Luce Hall auditorium and is free and open to the public.
This is the second of three roundtables sponsored by the MacMillan Center’s European Studies Council and European Union Studies Program. The panelists for the Nov. 30 roundtable will include Ambassador Yuriy Sergeyev, former Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations; Ambassador Maria Emma Mejia Veles, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations, and Chair of the 3rd Committee on Human Rights and Social Issues during the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly, in 2016-201; Ambassador Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations Chair of the 3rd Committee on Human Rights and Social Issues during the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly, in 2015-2016; and Ivan Simonovic, Assistant UN Secretary General for Human Rights.
